Many thanks for the tutorial - my kickstart restoration failed and now i can't delete any of the files from the FTP - 550 error - i can't even change the permissions.

I need to delete them to try again. Any idea how i can get rid of these files??? I am pulling my hair out !:)

I can upload and delete anything else but not the files that are part of the joomla setup

Yes it would be a recommendation but I think if you do everything again it will override everything, so either way will be good. I mean the best advice I can give is try both and see what works for you.

Do you have C-Panel? If so you can use the File Manager instead of the FTP Connection.

I am glad you have these tutorials; your blog has helped me in the past. I did have one question though about Akeeba's capabilities. Does Akeeba only restore SQL settings or can it restore corrupted files too like index.php and template files.

If a file it is already corrupted, I don't think Akeeba will help with that.

My knowledge and experience tells me no.

However I am not sure 100%, you might need to ask to the developer.
