Today I will be talking about how to change the favicon inside Joomla. Have in mind that the process will be almost the same on each Joomla version. So don't worry about if you are using Joomla 1.5 or Joomla 2.5
What exactly is a favicon?
Well a favicon is just a small image that it is going to be displayed inside your browsers. This little image can do wonders because people can recognize your brand online by just remembering this small icon. This normally will be helpful when the user has several windows open inside his browser.

In order for us to change this favicon in Joomla, we will need to follow a few steps.
1) Step Number One is to locate the favicon inside your Joomla Files. There are going to be a few places where the favicon will be saved. Some of the most common places are:
- Inside your default template folder
- Inside your Joomla Root Files
- Inside your images folder from your Root Files and from your Default Template
2) Step Number Two is to create a new Favicon using a place like Favicon.cc
3) Step Number Three is to upload the new favicon where the old favicon is located, so it can be replaced.
Now on this tutorial I am going to be using a Linux Server with a C-Panel Utility and that's why I will always recommend the company that I have been working with for the last couple of years. They have an excellent customer service, which is a huge deal because they always answer the phone, and their hosting is great for Joomla Websites.
If you want to learn more about that company, click on the image below.
